What we do
We help governments, companies, investors, project developers and landowners design, finance, monitor and prove climate and nature projects. Our work covers the land-sector project lifecycle, from eligibility screening and feasibility to modelling, documentation, field data, monitoring and EUDR compliance. All our services are delivered by specialists who do the work themselves.
Knowledge first
Akar means “root” in Bahasa Indonesia. We think good decisions in carbon and nature markets grow from understanding, so we publish first. This site explains standards, methodologies, Indonesian regulation, EUDR requirements, species and provinces in plain English, with an Indonesian and Southeast Asian focus. The forest carbon hub, the standards hub and the glossary are free to read and free to cite. Our free tools show their methods openly.
We aim to be accurate before we are persuasive. Where rules are changing or evidence is thin, we say so, and we update pages when regulations or methodologies change.
How we work
Our approach combines four things:
- Field data. Carbon and compliance claims stand or fall on ground evidence. We design and run plot campaigns, RTK surveys and drone mapping, so that satellite results can be checked against measurements.
- Our own tools. The AKAR suite covers eligibility screening, carbon simulation, dMRV, dashboards and drone mapping, keeping data consistent from one project stage to the next.
- Specialist judgement. Methodology choices, baselines and risk calls are made by people who know the standards and the Indonesian context.
- AI agents that amplify specialists. We use AI agents for drafting, calculation checks, research and data questions. A specialist reviews every output before it is used. AI makes a small senior team faster; it does not replace review.
Why Bali and Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest source of nature-based carbon credits in Southeast Asia and a major exporter of palm oil, coffee, cocoa, rubber and wood to the EU. Its carbon rules were re-based in 2025 and 2026. Working from Bali keeps us close to the landscapes, communities and institutions involved, and lets us offer international-standard work at Indonesian cost levels. We also support projects elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
