AKAR dMRV: Field-to-Registry Monitoring
AKAR dMRV captures per-plot and per-tree field data with GPS, photos and timestamps, and turns it into traceable monitoring results for verification.
AKAR dMRV is a digital monitoring tool that captures field data per plot and per tree, with GPS position, photos and timestamps, and turns it into traceable results for monitoring reports and verification. It is built for ARR, agroforestry, mangrove and smallholder programmes in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
What problem it solves
Monitoring is where credibility is won or lost. Paper forms get lost or mistyped, photos are not linked to plots, survival is estimated rather than counted, and calculations sit in personal spreadsheets. At verification, the validation body cannot trace reported tonnes back to measurements. A digital monitoring pipeline solves this by capturing data at source and keeping each step reproducible.
Capabilities
- Mobile field capture: plots, trees, species, DBH, height, condition and notes, with validation rules that catch impossible values at entry.
- Location and evidence: GPS position per record, with support for RTK-corrected positions, plus photos and timestamps.
- Farmer and plot registration: farmer profiles with consent records and plot polygons, used for smallholder carbon and EUDR programmes. See farmer registration and consent.
- Offline-first: data stored on the device and synchronised later.
- QA/QC workflow: flags for outliers and missing data, with reviewer sign-off and an edit log.
- Calculations: biomass and carbon from measurements using documented allometry, aggregated by plot, stratum and project.
- Exports: clean tables and GIS files for monitoring reports, audits and buyer data requests.
How it is used
- Configure forms, species lists and the plot network for your project.
- Train field teams; see mobile tree measurement.
- Collect data in the field, online or offline.
- Review flags and approve records.
- Run calculations and export results for the monitoring report.
- View progress in the AKAR Dashboard.
Who it is for
- Developers preparing baseline inventories and monitoring periods, for example under VM0047.
- Smallholder programmes tracking many farms and trees.
- Exporters registering suppliers and plots for the EUDR.
- Researchers and model developers collecting ground truth.
Data ownership and traceability
Project data belongs to the project owner. Every record keeps who collected it, when, where and on which device, and edits are logged rather than overwritten. Calculations run from raw data with fixed, documented steps, so an auditor can reproduce reported totals. Data can be exported in open formats at any time, so you are not locked in if you change provider or auditor.
Limitations
AKAR dMRV records what field teams measure; it cannot fix a poor sampling design or careless measurement. Data quality still depends on training, protocols and QA. Allometric results depend on the equations chosen, and those should match the species and methodology. The tool does not replace validation or verification by an accredited body.

Frequently asked questions
What is AKAR dMRV?
It is a field-to-report monitoring tool. Field teams record plots, trees, farmers and plot boundaries on a mobile app; the data flows into a checked dataset and traceable calculations that support monitoring reports and verification.
Does it work offline?
Field data capture is designed for areas with poor connectivity: records are stored on the device and synchronised when a connection is available.
Does it connect directly to registries?
No. 'Field-to-registry' describes the evidence chain, not an automatic submission. AKAR dMRV prepares data and outputs for monitoring reports; submission to a registry follows the standard's normal process.
How do I get access?
By demo request. Message us with your project type, number of plots or farms and your monitoring schedule.
